Rykart Lee Baar, 53, of Spring Valley died May 4. He was born in Dickinson, N.D., and was a retired Navy senior chief petty officer.

Survivors include his daughter, Brittany Baar; sisters, Rhonda Schultz, Roberta Bonne and Renee Morris; and brothers, Russel Baar and Chad Morris.

ROBERT D. BESSE

Jan. 16, 1965-May 2, 2006

Robert D. Besse, 41, of San Diego died May 2. He was born in Hayward and was a department manager at Sav-on Drugs.

HENRY L. BILTERMAN

Henry L. Bilterman, 92, of Spring Valley died May 2. He was born in Avery, Iowa, and was a college professor. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his daughter, Dolores Guzman; and sister, Grace Hoffman of Illinois.

RUTH I. BROWN

Nov. 27, 1914-April 18, 2006

Ruth I. Brown, 91, of Spring Valley died April 18. She was born in Iowa and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Elsbree of Santa Clara, Mary Mess of Princeton, Iowa, and Linda Clark of Edgewood, Iowa; sons, Gene Thompson of Lakeside and Richard Thompson of Glendale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

SUMNER CHARLES BROWN

Sumner Charles Brown, 73, of Spring Valley died April 30. He was born in Detroit and was a retired Navy lieutenant commander. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Brown; son, Mark Brown; sister, Vivian Hunter; brother, David Brown; and two grandchildren.

TYLENE W. DUNLAP

Survivors include his wife, Lida Dye; daughters, Vicki of Sarasota, Fla., Kathy of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Christine of Georgetown, Texas; son, Chuck of Broadbent, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
